Professional Driver

by Norm
(Owego NY USA)

I recently came to a company because of an advertisement in one of our recruiting magazines (dream books).

I was told by the recruiter as well as the recruiting manager what I would be making per mile, how often I would be home "guaranteed" and what kind of equipment I would be driving.

Well I gave notice to my old company, refused to burn bridges behind me, and went to the new company's orientation only to find several "discrepancies" or as I call them flat out lies.

First my milage rate was reduced almost .06cents per mile. I was told after the fact that the N.E. regional division had been recently disbanded and the company had formed a new division to attempt to get drivers more miles. Like this is gonna help, more miles at less money doesn't add up.

Then I find that the Home weekly thing, well that went out the window too, it became whenever the dispatcher decided you could go home or after I complained enouph.

Third was the advertisement stated IH 9400i "eagle" package trucks, not so, they are stripped down pro sleepers w/no amenities for drivers, cold in poor condition & unmaintained.

If that wasn't enouph, the company stated that if they determined that the truck was Idling 2 much they would take 2cents off a drivers pay rate.

The Orientation manager also stated the owner would rather pay the fine to the NY Dept of labor than let a driver Idle the truck for comfort.

This has turned out to be a nightmare. It has proven itself all true. I made the fatal mistake of working for this outfit, Known as Priority Transport.

After several attempts to work on these issues, I have decided to return to my old position at my former company.

I will have to deal w/struggling to get home to a wife who is dying from cronic lung deseases.

Thanks to a lying recruiter and believe me it was a flat out lie, if the company had told the truth no one would ever work for them ever.
